Amicus, The Sailing Vacation Yacht

The shaded cockpit Amicus was designed by Jean-Marie Finot for Beneteau of France as an Oceanis 40CC and adapted during design to suit cruising in the Caribbean. She was built and launched in October 2000 and sailed across the Atlantic. We had our first Caribbean period on her in December of 2000 and have been in love with her since.

She is designed as a responsive cruiser for owners and two guests. Cool and spacious with two large en-suite cabins and plenty of deck space. She is a joy to sail, dry, secure and light to handle. Novices will take to her solid centre cockpit layout with all controls readily to hand. The electric windlass raises and lowers the anchor at the touch of a button. At the stern, steps lead down to the swim platform for easy access in and out of the water, with a hot freshwater shower to immediately wash off the salt water. The spacious cockpit is enhanced by an extensive bimini making it possible to choose shade or sun at all times, including at sail. It allows you to enjoy your candlelit dining even when the Caribbean decides it is time for some wind or rain. The centre cockpit design incorporates an extensive flat aft deck. This safe area provides the setting for sunbathing, relaxing, working out, massage treatments, sun-downers and star gazing.

Guest accommodation

Your en-suite You have exclusive use of the saloon, your forward cabin with double berth and an en-suite bathroom and shower. Although you spend the majority of time awake on deck, the experience below is part of the magic of a holiday afloat. The saloon, cabin and bathroom each have a large forward opening hatch that gives you plenty of ventilation. Your cabin has air conditioning available for the occasional times when you feel it essential whilst in a marina.

Your cabin has a double bed at normal level with full standing height to the side. A sofa and ample lockers afford you comfort and room for your personal items. The guest berths are very quiet when the yacht is at anchor or moored.

The en-suite bathroom and shower provides full standing height, flushing toilet and hot and cold pressurised water.

Electric power for your gadgets is via 12volt sockets and 110volts for low wattage appliances. We recommend you to bring battery powered gadgets with rechargeable batteries and a 12volt charger via a cigar lighter socket.
