Getting to The British Virgin Islands

As there are no direct intercontinental flights to the British Virgin Islands they have remained unspoilt. It does however mean you have to make a little more effort to get here.

"Beef Island International Airport" is located on a small island linked by a short road bridge to Tortola. All flights into the BVI's route through this smart, new airport. If you come this way we will meet you in the arrivals hall.

An alternative is to fly into St Thomas on the nearby USVI's and take the ferry to Tortola. This is a well established service with taxis meeting each plane to take you to the ferry terminals on St Thomas. The ferries are frequent with the ride to Tortola taking 30 to 40 minutes depending on the agent and the route taken. If you choose this route we will meet you at the BVI ferry terminal after you have cleared customs. The preferred route is Red Hook, St Thomas (USVI) to West End Soper's Hole, Tortola (BVI).

Ferry Services

If you are flying from the UK via Antigua you will find Caribbean Star or LIAT Airways provide connecting flights to Beef Island.

The fine detail of your travel and where we will meet you can be organised later.

At this stage we recommend you spend some time at the following link, there are many others but this one gives a very comprehensive review.

Flights to and from the BVI

If you are coming from the UK you should also consider the charter flight that currently flies on Fridays from London Gatwick to St Thomas USVI or to Antigua. This flight, by First Choice Airways, is bookable on-line or telephone, see the following link.

London Gatwick to St Thomas and Antigua

There are many scheduled services from Europe to the Caribbean and several airlines that link you to the BVI's. The most frequently used gateway islands include St Martin, St Kitts, Antigua and Puerto Rico, San Juan.

If you are coming to the BVI's from the US you will almost certainly come to San Juan, Puerto Rico, by international carrier and travel on to the BVI's by smaller carrier e.g. American Eagle.

Those of you coming from other areas of the world will no doubt be able to tell us some interesting travel tales. It is recommended that you take the opportunity of seeing the journey to the BVI's as part of your overall travel experience-it is worth it!

As flights change frequently it is our recommendation that you consult your favourite travel organiser or search the web. Beware you may find that flights book early at peak times.
